The Finnish Market

Finland is the fourth most competitive nation in the world according to Global Competitiveness Report 2011-2012 by World Economic Forum (WEF). WEF also ranks Finland as one of the innovation powerhouses in Europe.

Finland occupies the top position in the higher education and training pillar, which WEF considers to be the result of a strong focus on education over recent decades. This has laid the groundwork for high levels of technological adoption and innovation.

Finland’s infrastructure is ranked highly in IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2011. The excellent education system and the reliability of the country’s infrastructure are key factors in the attractiveness of the Finnish economy. Finland’s particular strengths include its societal framework, health and environment, and infrastructure. Finland also scores well for the country’s institutional framework, finance, and management practices.

The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook also includes key attractiveness indicators based on responses to its Executive Opinion Survey. The key attractiveness factors for the Finnish economy are its high educational level, reliable infrastructure, political stability and predictability, lack of corruption, and the skilled workforce.
